I think the raccoons and squirrels just had WWIII outside my condo door. There was loud shrieking outside, which at first sounded like a really loud and strange parrot. I opened my door for just a second and saw some raccoon eyes. Then I realized that it sounded more like the raccoons vs. squirrels. I hope it was not raccoons vs. cat, because the people that moved in across the way, lost their cat a couple of days ago. Raccoons are known to kill and eat cats. Thinking that the neighbors' lost cat might have been in trouble, I went to get some sort of weapon (raccoons can be quite viscious and carry many diseases like rabies), but by the time I returned, the animals had dispersed.
I've been trying to befriend the cat for several days now. When I put my oven on clean cycle, the cutest little cat came and sat by my door for an hour, but that was before I learned that the neighbors were still missing their cat. By the time I figured that out, the cat had moved. Now it runs away from me everytime it sees me.
I think downtown Bellevue is in the midst of a raccoon invasion. I've seen two roadkilled raccoons on NE 8th and Bellevue Way the last week and I saw a live one the other night. Now I have raccoon turf wars outside my door. I bet that all the construction going on in this area has displaced some animals.
If you've never seen the Discovery Channel series "Planet Earth" in HD, you need to...it's the most incredible video footage I've seen. It's also highly educational. Watching it in regular definition TV just isn't the same for this tv show.

Here I am with my niece Isabel. She recently turned three.
We called this one "Flowers".
As I was entertaining her for a little bit, we decided to draw some pictures on the MS paint program. She'd tell me what to draw, where to draw it, and what color to make it and I'd do my best to use the touch pad to make some art. I think we did a pretty good job. If anything, she's got great taste in color combinations.
We called this "Farm Animals".
